    Position Details 



    • Title: Library Assistant II

    • Location: Central Library

    • Hours: Part-Time (20 hours / week)

    • Schedule: Varies, but will include day, evening, and weekend hours; at least 6 Sundays per year

    • Starting Hourly Rate: $11.85

    • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    A successful candidate will… 



    • Have previous experience working with customers face to face.

    • Have previous library experience, either via past job or volunteering.

    • Have a high school diploma, or G.E.D.

    • Be available to work day, evening, and weekend hours - including at least 8 Sundays per year.

    • Be able to navigate basic computer functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, internet browsing, and be able to learn Library’s computer systems with simple training.

    • Be bilingual (preferred but not required).


    What does the job look like? 



    • Check-out and renew materials to patrons and assist patrons with questions regarding library policies.

    • Process all outgoing and incoming materials, including shelve holds, and circulation reports.

    • Assist patrons with library card applications.

    • Prepare cash drawer, including preparation of the bank deposit.

    • Accepts payments for overdue, lost and damaged materials.

    • Other job duties and responsibilities assigned.

    • Physical requirements include frequent standing, lifting, walking, pushing and pulling up to 20 pounds, bending and twisting. May occasionally lift more than 20 pounds.
