    Position Details




    • Title: Public Services Associate II (Juvenile)




    • Location: The Learning Curve @ Central Library




    • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week




    • Schedule: Will vary, but will include day, evenings, and weekend hours; and at least 6 Sundays per year




    • Starting Hourly Rate: $15.34




    • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    A successful candidate will…




    • Have a bachelor’s degree or a Library Technical Degree and an Indiana State Librarian Certificate V




    • Have previous experience working with customers face to face.




    • Be available to work day, evening, and weekend hours - including at least 6 Sundays per year.




    • Be able to navigate basic computer functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, internet browsing.




    • Have previous experience working in a library (preferred but not required).




    • Be bilingual (preferred but not required).




    What does the job look like?




    • Assist patrons with finding library materials, recommending titles, locating library materials at other branches and placing requests.




    • Provide assistance and instruction to patrons in using computer, printing or using other equipment.




    • Provide preliminary, quick or ready reference assistance, referring in-depth research to librarians on duty or for call back.




    • Develop, plan and present community outreach programming and services as a designated library representative.




    • Assists in collection management activities including weeding and general maintenance as assigned, sorts and shelves materials, reads shelves and moves materials as needed.




    • Record and report statistics related to tasks including reference assistance, use of materials, program attendance and community contacts.




    • Inform patrons of library policies and procedures; observe patron activity.
