    The University Archivist undertakes appraisal and acquisition of records of the University of Wyoming. The archivist is responsible for determining which records have permanent legal or historical value. The records include departmental records, selected faculty papers, and materials documenting life and events at the University of Wyoming. The University Archivist works with the university community and the public at large to promote an understanding of the history and legacy of the university.


    Supports the academic mission of the University of Wyoming:


    University Archives: Supervises university archives and records management program, including handling collections, management issues, improving access to university archives collections and assisting UW personnel with records request. Creates and implements outreach efforts to increase the visibility of the university archives program. Documents important events on campus, often quickly after they occur. Provides records management services to university community, including soliciting, appraising, scheduling, disposing, and processing university records. Facilitates transfer of born digital archives and contributes to AHC born digital records policies.
    Professional Practice: Arrange and describe research collections. Create finding aids to assist in location of pertinent material. Apply expert knowledge of wide range of professional standards, sources, and practices. Chair and/or serve on Al-IC committees and task forces as appointed. Communicate effectively with colleagues, collection donors, researchers, teaching faculty and members of the public in order to promote access to the resources of the AHC.
    Instructional Support and Classroom Teaching: Provide lectures on archival or historical topics for UW or community college classes. Train and supervise interns and volunteers.
    Acquisitions: Engage in collection development activities to enrich the American Heritage Center's holdings.
    Research and/or creative activity.
    University and professional service.

    Minimum Qualifications
    MA or MLS/MLIS with an archival concentration and two years of experience working with archival material.
    Familiarity with metadata standards such as MARC, RDA, DACS and EAD, and with retention schedules and disposition practices.
    Demonstrated understanding of archival principles and practices.
    Experience working with record creators and in engaging communities through archival collections.
    Demonstrated capacity for (or evidence of) service and scholarship consistent with the requirements of faculty archivists at the AHC.
    Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills
    Desired Qualifications
    Digital Archivist Specialist (DAS) certification;
    Additional advanced degree;
    Experience developing programs and exhibits.
