Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon is looking for a compassionate, dedicated, forward-thinking librarian who has experience and passion for working with the African American community. You must be creative, culturally competent, and customer service-focused. You will be joining a team of library professionals at Central Library and will be responsible for building and maintaining professional relationships with Central Library’s patrons as well as collaborating with appropriate stakeholders within Central Library’s community and the library system as a whole. You will be connecting patrons, both internal and external, with the information they seek and delivering a variety of professional-level library services in order to enrich the library experience for the African American community. While you will assist all patrons, you will have a special emphasis on serving the African American community, and will coordinate with staff to build a dynamic and welcoming environment at the Central Library for African American patrons. To accomplish this work, you will have a focus on providing programming and outreach to the community.
