Western Carolina University invites applications and nominations for the position of associate dean of Library Services. The associate dean will be a knowledgeable, experienced, and visionary educator importantly supporting the dean, department heads, faculty, and staff by providing exceptional administrative, operational, and special programs leadership. Requiring a broad understanding of how libraries contribute to the teaching and learning mission of the university, and functioning as the deputy director for library administration, the associate dean will oversee library-wide administrative programs to include: strategic planning; assessment; marketing and communications; facilities planning; external partnerships and outreach; and special initiatives and projects. As appropriate, the associate dean will represent the library in campus and community activities.
Reporting to the dean of Library Services, this is a 12-month, non-tenure-track position. The associate dean serves as a resource for library faculty and staff and is an administrative liaison with all library operations. An important responsibility of this position is to continuously assess and enhance services to the campus community in a working environment that highly values collegiality, collaboration, and creativity. The associate dean will play a key role in developing and executing the library’s long-range plans in support of the university’s 20/20 strategic vision, which embraces an educational model of engaged learning and service to the region.
