Our Library is located 9 miles south of the Arbuckle Mountains (and Turner Falls) in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Ardmore is the county seat of Carter County and the hub of a ten-county region of south central Oklahoma. We are just off I-35 and a less than 90 minute drive north to Oklahoma City or south to Dallas. Lake Murray State Park, the largest state park in Oklahoma, lies on the edge of Ardmore to the south. The Ardmore Public Library began as a Carnegie Library in 1906. We moved into our current 28,000 square foot building in 1999. We maintain a collection of approximately 80,000 items. The library is a department of the City of Ardmore and is funded by city sales tax revenue. The library has a significant endowment that supports the library collections and maintains the building.
