    Dear LHRT Library History friends:

    March will kick off Women's History month & we have some exciting news
    to tell you about!


    During March and April several kickoff and book tour presentations
    will be scheduled in several locations such as Washington DC,
    Milwaukee, Iowa, Chicago, Madison WI, Urbana Champaign & others
    possible.

    Some of you may have already heard about the new book written by
    co-authors Drs. Sarah Wadsworth & Wayne Wiegand - just published in
    January 2012, many of you may have already gotten a copy of the book
    or read it at your library.

    Here is some information:


    Right Here I See My Own Books: The Woman’s Building Library at the
    World’s Columbian Exposition (University of Massachusetts Press
    January 2012).

    Marquette University and Wayne A. Wiegand, F. William Summers

    Many of you also attended some presentations held this June 26-27th at
    ALA Annual in New Orleans. Dr Sarah Wadsworth presented a talk about
    the research & book on June 26th in New Orleans at ALA  which was
    sponsored by ALA COSWL Committee on the Status of Women in
    Librarianship.

    The following day on June 27th, both Dr Wadsworth & Dr Wiegand also
    continued the conversation during ALA at the Edward G. Holley Lecture
    which was sponsored by ALA LHRT.  “Ghosts and Shadows: Reading Race in
    the Woman’s Building Library of the World’s Columbian Exposition"
    Thanks to those who attended these events in New Orleans at ALA
    Annual, we had a great response to both events & we hope many more of
    you will be able to attend during March & April, and read / learn more
    about the book.

    In addition, the March 2012 issue of American Libraries will feature
    an article during Women's History month by Sue Searing of the
    University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Libraries about the new book
    and research by Drs Wadsworth & Wiegand & the support for women's
    history & the National Women's History Museum campaign.  Please keep
    an eye out for it too.

    We know that this new book has generated much interest, especially in
    women's history. We hope you will come out & participate in some of
    these upcoming events too which are listed below on the Spring
    Itinerary updated (as of Feb 10th) and provided to us by Dr Wiegand
    for all interested.  The first presentation will be held at the
    Library of Congress on March 2nd, we hope you can attend at some of
    these events & join us, other dates & locations are listed below.  We
    hope you can join us !

    **ALL BOOK ROYALTIES DONATED TO THE NATIONAL WOMEN’S HISTORY MUSEUM**

    So please help us spread the word & support women's history this
    spring. If you are unable to join us at these events, please try to
    get a copy to read and discuss / share with us and others who may be
    interested too.  If you buy a copy, you may also wish to donate it
    after to your local library if they don't have it, so more people can
    read it. These are some ideas how to get involved. Remember, all
    royalties will be donated to the new museum, you can make a
