What's your retirement story?

Well, it is 2 minutes before Happy Hour.  Sitting on the dock after spending some time tending to my volunteer activities brings me peace and time to reflect.

I have been involved with ALA for over 30 years. RMRT was just getting started when I retired 16 years ago. RMRT is going strong!

AASL and ALA conference planning filled my time before retirement. Giving programs and training to local groups about new advancements in librarianship and libraries  marked the first years of retirement.  Making new friends and keeping up to date with my current friends has always been on my agenda.  I love to go to conferences and still do that while retired.  Fortunately,  I am able to go to ALA conferences across this beautiful country, meet new people, hear new speakers, and see how this world is changing.  And, of course, I still love reading.

I am currently the RMRT chair and looking forward to New Orleans in June 2027.  The last time ALA annual was in NOLA, I was also RMRT chair.  You may not be able to go to conferences, but there is much more to RMRT than that!

On the ALA.org/rmrt website it states: For active members who intend to remain involved with the profession and to continue with their lifelong learning.

REALLY???  Read on the website what amazing opportunities we have and where we are going.
