I've just volunteered for the AI working group, and I'd be happy to represent RMRT if you'd like. The volunteer form asks if one is applying as an individual or as a unit rep. I applied as an individual and just named the units I am a member of.

I have family members who pay $$$ to use the most up-to-date iterations of Claude, and I am familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of Gemini, ChatGPT, CoPilot, Google AI (Deep Search)  and others.

My focus would be on providing patron services in public libraries, offering guidance to patrons when they have questions, comments, or concerns!

I don't have a strong opinion about AI. I don't fear it, nor do I wholeheartedly embrace it. I've been following the work of AIRUS (Artificial Intelligence in Reference & User Services Interest Group) since its formation.

Anyway, I just thought I would offer to liaise with RMRT when/if I join the group.

Katharine, what a profound and very relevant committee to be on. AI fascinates me, and I am always looking to learn more about it. Can't wait to hear about your experiences on the committee!

Would someone like to nominate me to represent the RMRT?
