The Retired Members Round Table (RMRT) shall exist to develop programs of particular interest to retired persons from all types of libraries and all forms of library services, including formal opportunities for continued involvement and learning; a variety of leadership training and opportunities for mentoring; lifelong professional involvement and networking; and active engagement in the American Library Association and the profession of librarianship.

    Hi RMRT,

    What databases and/or journals did you read to stay updated with librarianship when you were working as a librarian and/or when you were completing master’s program to become a librarian? What did professional development/continuing education encompass for you when you were a librarian?

    Library Journal, American Libraries, Wilson Library Bulletin.  

    The PubLib onlkine discussion group was invaluable, and led to friendships with colleagues that I still maintain.

    Professional development and CE were primarily through library system workshops.     State library conferences, ALA, and PLA also provided CE.
