The following volunteer opportunity is being sent to you on behalf of Rachael Elrod, Ed.D. (she/her), Associate Chair, Departmental Libraries, Director, Education Library & Education Librarian from the University of Florida, with permission to share by Naomi Angier, Chair of RMRT.

    Dear Colleagues,

We're reaching out with an exciting opportunity to support diverse representation in children's and young adult literature through the Diverse BookFinder (DBF), a unique resource, started from an IMLS fund, that collects and analyzes children's and young adult books featuring BIPOC characters to promote more inclusive collections and conversations.

We are currently seeking volunteers to serve as Book Assigners – a vital role that helps keep our data collection process running smoothly. As a Book Assigner, you would spend approximately 1-2 hours per week assigning books to coders who read and tag the books for the DBF database. No prior experience is necessary, just a passion for diverse books and a commitment to equity in literature. Training and ongoing support is provided.

If you're interested in joining the DBF volunteer team or have questions about the role, please respond to this email or reach out to Rachael Elrod at relrod@ufl.edu. To apply, include your resume, CV, or an explanation of your experience and a brief description of why this volunteer opportunity interests you.

    Warm Regards,

    Rachael

    DBF Book Identification Leader
