Help renew the ALA Veterans' MIG

  • 1.  Help renew the ALA Veterans' MIG

    Posted 2 days ago
Greetings to my RMRT colleagues. I am writing in my capacity as a member of the ALA Veterans Caucus, an ALA Member Interest Group (MIG). MIGs are informal groupings of members, and this MIG exists largely through its Connect space. The MIG is free to all members and members do not need to be veterans themselves. Members of this Caucus typically work with and support servicemembers, veterans, and their families in libraries.

Every three years, a Member Initiative Group must go through a renewal process. There are two Caucus members, Paul McMonigle and Emma Sobczak Schell, who are leading the repetitioning effort and are committed to helping the MIG share outreach, engagement, and other ideas to better serve veterans in our libraries' communities. The Caucus needs at least 100 signatures from ALA members by early April to continue operating as a group. You do not need to be a member of the Caucus in order to sign the petition.

Here is the link to the petition: https://www.ala.org/CFApps/epetition/index.cfm?pid=9BFEE05892819BD1

As a member of RMRT as well as an Air Force veteran, I would appreciate your support for renewing the Caucus. MIGs have very small footprints but can accomplish a lot in their own way.

    Thanks,
