Dear Colleagues,
The Retired Member Round Table is looking for candidates for Vice-chair/chair-elect, assistant treasurer, and two directors.
The Vice-Chair position is for three years, one as vice-chair, one as chair, and one as past chair.
The assistant treasurer is a two-year position, one as assistant treasurer and one as treasurer. ALA does all of the accounting for RMRT, so this position is learning how to track what ALA sends.
The director is a two-year position with the opportunity to run for a second two-year term.
The RMRT Board comprises retired or close-to-retirement individuals who still feel passionately about our profession and ALA. A real opportunity for RMRT Board members is to serve as a liaison to an ALA committee, Division, or Round Table and continue a professional interest. RMRT offers two awards. We are very active at ALA conferences, sponsoring a program, a dinner, and a cultural event. This year we went to The Word Museum, a brand-new museum dedicated to language. We also offer a 5th Sunday book club, discussing a book or a topic of interest.
Serving on the RMRT Board allows you to stay active in the profession, share your experience and wisdom, and have fun at ALA.
