The Retired Members Round Table (RMRT) shall exist to develop programs of particular interest to retired persons from all types of libraries and all forms of library services, including formal opportunities for continued involvement and learning; a variety of leadership training and opportunities for mentoring; lifelong professional involvement and networking; and active engagement in the American Library Association and the profession of librarianship.

    You are invited to join the Retired Members Round Table for a dutch treat dinner on Friday, January 30th at 7 pm.  If you are interested in joining RMRT for this festive dinner and meeting some members who are excited about ALA, please let us know by replying to this post.

    I am sorry that I will not be able to attend, as I will not be at the Midwinter Meeting.  I hope that you'll have a dinner at the Annual Conference.

    Would love to Ann Marie, but my flight doesn't land at Midway until 6pm. Wondering if I'll even make it to the convention center in time to get my badge. I'm in meetings off-site all day Saturday. I suppose it doesn't really matter if I don't have a badge until I have to go to the McCormick on Sunday. Leaving Monday, so this is a super-quick trip for me!

    To whomever administers this community, though I wish to be retired now, I have more years ahead to work.  Therefore, would you please exclude me from your posts.  I checked my profile and this community is not listed as one I signed up for.  So, I am not sure how I became included in these posts.  If the administer can shed some light on how I can get excluded, I am sure it will help me and others who are wish to be excluded from these posts.  Thank you

    I am an ALA member and of retirement age but I am not retiring for a while.  I will consider getting active with this group when I do retire.  However, my attending either ALA Midwinter or Summer is highly unlikely.  I am caring for my wife who is disabled.  She has Dementia.  Therefore, traveling is very hard.

    I am retiring and I am interested in this round table, but it's now impossible for me to find the original messages about joining or about a meal.  How do we start from scratch? Can you send a new message to a subset of members (say, only people who have been members for twenty years) with a clear and prominent opt out option?
    I have been a member of other groups within ALA and every time the group has decided to add people to a list without their permission, this kind of furor results. Can't this kind of mass mailing be prohibited?
