I wanted to give you some new information that I just received.  And want to give a big THANK YOU to those of you who have volunteered in the past and have already volunteered for this year.  We are going to do something different this year in San Francisco.  If you would like to do this, please follow the info in the post below.  You have invaluable information from years of service to the organization that you can share, and I hope that you will take advantage of this.  I have edited it for ease of use.

Subject: Member volunteers for the ALA Lounge at Annual

I know in the past we’ve had NMRT and RMRT members volunteer to help at the Membership Pavilion at Annual conferences. This year as the Pavilion transitions into the new ALA Lounge we’ll have a little less desk space and I don’t think we’ll need so many volunteers all at once to staff the Lounge. We do still need volunteers to be ALA Ambassadors, though, if your members would still like to help out. Below is the email call for volunteers I just sent out. If you’d like to pass it on to your respective memberships that would be great!

    Thanks so much!

Volunteer to Help Your Peers at the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco!

Looking to help your peers while attending the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco next month? If so, we would love to have you as a volunteer participating in the ALA Membership Ambassador program between Friday, June 26 and Monday, June 29, 2015.

There are three levels of participation:

    • Ambassadors, who work alongside ALA staff in the ALA Lounge to answer questions about the conference, meeting spaces, and other onsite amenities

    • Roaming Ambassadors, who wear identification badges while onsite at the conference to answer questions about the conference, meeting spaces, and other onsite amenities

    • Mentor Ambassadors who serve as mentors/sources of information for first-time attendees by answering their questions, leading brief onsite tours to acquaint first-time attendees with services available to them, and more fully engaging them as active participants in the American Library Association (e.g., through divisions, round tables, and volunteer opportunities); mentors will also remain available through the end of the day on Sunday, by email and/or cell phone, to answer follow-up questions from those they mentor

To register for the program and choose a shift, please contact Paul Signorelli (paul@paulsignorelli.com) so he can add you to the Ambassador community on ALAConnect and expedite your placement in the program. One-time orientation sessions will be held online and onsite to prepare volunteers for the assignments they accept.

    Thank you,
