    Hello RMRT members,
I hope you are registered for the ALA annual virtual conference.  It is going to be exciting.  Today we learned President Obama will speak at the closing ceremony.

RMRT will offer three activities:  All on Saturday, June 26)
    Our President's Program  (Saturday, 10:30am - 11:30am CDT)
Our Board Meeting (to which you are all invited  (Saturday, 2;45 - 3:45pm CDT)
Our Book Discussion Group (Saturday, 4:00 - 5:00 pm CDT)

Our Program:  (Saturday, June 26, 10:30 - 11:30 am CDT)

Northwestern University professor Pamela Bannos discusses her critically acclaimed book, Vivian Maier:
    A Photographer's Life and Afterlife
. Bannos' richly detailed and meticulously researched study contrasts
Maier's life with the mythology that strangers-mostly the men who have profited from her work-have
created around her absence. The much-promulgated myth of Maier as a "nanny savant" has eclipsed her
true achievements, skills, and intentions. She was not a nanny who moonlighted as a photographer; she was
a photographer who supported herself as a nanny.

We have three complimentary copies of the book to award to those who attend our Zoom program.

Our Board meeting (Saturday, June 26,  2:45 - 3:45 pm CDT)
We will be discussing the work of RMRT and how you can get involved.  We have posiitons that will be open on our board, committees doirng the work of RMRT, and the opportunty to be a liason to your favorite ALA committee.

Our Book Discussion topics focuses on books that make you think and books that give you delight.  (Saturday, June 26 4:00 - 5:00 pm CDT)

Part 1:   a current events or issues-based book you've recently read

Part 2:   an escapist / feel-good book you've recently read

I'm so disappointed that I can't attend this year, even virtually!  Miss my library friends so-o-o-o much!  Have  wonderful meetings and discussions.  Will any of these be available online at a later date?
