Advocacy Coordinating Group Midwinter Meeting
Denver
February 10, 2018
I attended this meeting as the RMRT representative. Here’s a summary of the sections of the meeting that are relevant to RMRT members.
Chair Susan DiMattia asked that all ALA Divisions, Roundtables and other units pose these four questions from the Organizational Effectiveness Discussion document to their members. Susan welcomes any thoughts and ideas you may have on these topics. Her email is sdimattia@optonline.net
- What does our ideal organization do?
- What does our ideal organization look like?
- What are 3 ways we can get there?
Federal Budget Issues: IMLS is up to renewal by Congress. Every RMT member should subscribe to the Washington Office’s District Dispatch at www.districtdispatch.org. When you get to their homepage look for the two buttons at the top: “Take Action for Libraries” and “Subscribe”. Just click on either one and follow the directions to sign up for more information. I will forward the latest Action Alert about this issue and any further requests for action.
Susan is also interested in how RMRT members have used the Libraries Transform themes. Please send her your feedback on this program.
The Office for Library Advocacy and the Office for Intellectual Freedom have joined forces to present Advocacy Bootcamp Training at a number of State Library Association meetings. Be sure and look for these opportunities at www.ala.org/advocacy/advocacy-bootcamp.
