The budget as approved at the July 16, 2009 board meeting is attached.
Nancy and Laurel have covered it. 3M notified ALA last fall with their decision not to sponsor the social. With a limited budget we held an Awards Reception in its place during the annual conference in Chicago. This fall I will be working with our ALA liaison and ALA Development to find out what the level of sponsorship 3M anticipates for 2010.
Nancy, you said it beautifully! We do not know if 3M will be making a donation this year. We will have a social event at Annual no matter what, but the format will depend a great deal on whether or not 3M makes a donation.

Last Fall amidst the difficult eceonomic times 3M let us know they had to withdraw their economic support from the social, but did continue to sponsor the three 3M/NMRT scholarships. We are waiting to see what happens this year, hoping for the best, but preparing for another potentially tough year for the social.

As your BARC liaison - please clarify the lack of the $21,000 donation for the 3M Social this year. Do you not forsee the contribution - and if not, will the social still be held? Or am I misreading the budget? Thanks!
