Hello!  I was NMRT president way back in 2000 and can't rave enough about how wonderful NMRT is for meeting great people, gaining invaluable experience, and helping others.  I hope you all are enjoying your NMRT and ALA experience as much as I did!

I would like to ask your input, please.  I'm talking with a publisher about editing a book that would compile brief first-hand accounts of various types of jobs one might get with an LIS degree (more or less updating 2007's A Day in the Life: Career Options in LIS).  I would very much like to hear from you (and anyone else you'd like to share this with):

    (1) Do you feel an updated print book like this would be worthwhile?  Do you feel this is already covered online, in LIS courses, or elsewhere?

    (2) Would you (or your friends or colleages) be interested in being considered as a contributor?  If so, please email your name, email, job title, and a few sentences summarizing your job duties and any other comments about your interest to Priscilla Shontz, priscilla.shontz.lis@gmail.com.

    (3) If you know someone who might be an interesting contributor (i.e. know someone who does something cool and out of the ordinary?), please pass this along to them or email me their contact info!

    Thank you all!

    Priscilla Shontz

I definitely feel an updated print book such as this one would be worthwhile. I just completed over the summer a course in Special Libraries and Information Centers at University of Missouri. My classmates and I found the class very helpful in learning about different special libraries and information centers. It would be great to have an updated resource like this book to inform MLIS students and recent grads of areas not as readily apparent where the MLIS can be applied to.

I agree with Rosanna! (I'm also a Mizzou MLIS student!)
