Hello All,
I'm so excited to be the NMRT President this year! Part of our charge as a round table is to give membership the opportunity to gain committee experience at any level. Our committees are many and varied and almost all are in need of members and/or chairs! I would really encourage anyone that has been interested in a deeper experience with NMRT/ ALA to really consider joining a committee. My committee work with ALA started roughly 10 years ago and continued within my state library organization and beyond! Committee work definitely helped me get the experience needed for my job today, and helped me with my dossier for my promotion towards senior librarian status (in an academic library). In the public library, it helped me work with my colleagues and helped me gain some (much needed) project management-type experience.
If you'd like to talk more, my email/ ALA connect messages are open and I'd be happy to chat with you. Here is a link to the committee volunteer form . We have been defaulting to two year appointments (so that we can enhance our knowledge sharing within committees) but if you would only like one year, I'm happy to accommodate that as well.
I am so happy that NMRT exists and can provide this opportunity to our membership, I really encourage you to take advantage of it. Your contribution is valuable and we need your input to help NMRT grow in this next year!
Thank You,
Morgan Brickey-Jones
