Hello all! I'm new here (obviously) and wanted to introduce myself. I've been working in libraries since August of last year and in February of this year was able to secure the 'Librarian' job title as I work towards finishing my MLS through Texas Woman's University online program. I just joined ALA in October and am still learning how to use it and navigate through ALA Connect. I look forward to learning more about how to use this space and meeting more librarians!

    Jenna,

Welcome to ALA and thanks for posting in this space. ALA is a large organization with a ton of resources, including ALA Connect. I highly recommend checking out the FAQ that can be found under the "Find it Fast" heading. There are some great pointers about getting the most out of Connect. A few of my favorite tips for using ALA Connect include setting your Email Notifications to the preference that works the best for you (found under Settings in each group you are in) and being able to reply to posts directly from your email (instead of having to log in to Connect all the time).  ALA is trying to promote Connect as an information sharing space, so if you have a question about something, don't be afraid of putting it in the main ALA Members group to get feedback. You can also search past posts to see if someone has posed the question already. One thing NMRT offers is our Online Discussion Forum, which happens right here in Connect. It's a great way to learn from others on a topic that is chosen by the committee each month.

    Hi all,

I wanted to introduce myself as well. My name is Bryn Nelson and I'm a Seattle-based science writer and the author of a new science book aimed at the general public (it's called Flush, about the science and value of poop, which pairs my background in microbiology with my interest in medicine and the environment).

I've long been a proud library supporter and am interested in learning more about how authors and libraries can connect and support each other on issues like LGBTQ+ inclusivity, community engagement, reading programs for youth, and fighting book bans.

    Thanks!
