Posting for a colleague; please excuse any cross postings. Panel 2 is of particular interest for NMRT members.
The Ex Libris Southcentral Users Group (ELSUG) is holding its annual conference virtually via Zoom on November 2-3, 2023 in the afternoon, Central US Time. ELSUG represents Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. The theme for this year's conference is Resilience and Growth
Please consider contributing to the community of Ex Libris users by sharing your experiences with adapting Ex Libris products to your local context. Did the Alma way of doing things not match up with your local workflows? Are you still wondering 'what happened?' after your migration? How were you able to use challenges to seed new learning and growth? These are merely suggestions! Proposals may cover any of the Ex Libris products, the interactions between them, and their interoperability with other systems. Proposals may also cover topics that relate to the wider development of library and information systems.
Did you work through an interesting special collections issue in Rosetta? Did you leverage an API or Cloud App to streamline Alma? Did you assess your Primo UI using a DEI lens? While these are a few examples, our strength is in our many different voices! We want to hear from you about ways you improved your and others' work.
We welcome proposals from ELSUG members and nonmembers!
This year we are happy to offer 2 kinds of presentations
- 25 min Classic Presentations: with 20 minutes for presenting and 5 minutes for Questions and Answers.
or
- 40 min Technical Presentations: with 35 minutes to present, and 5 minutes for Questions and Answers. Appropriate for when you have a lot of details to share and don't want to rush to cram it into a shorter presentation!
PANEL PARTICIPATION: We are also actively recruiting for participation on 2 panels. Panelists will take turns speaking on the topic, with time for questions and answers as well.
Panel 1: Dishing up the Dirt: from Setbacks to Success - Sometimes systems don't work in ways that fit our needs or workflow requirements, but they are the systems we have so we need to make it work. Have you faced a challenge like this with Ex Libris products? We'd love for you to share your insights!
Panel 2: Sowing the Seeds for Success - We're looking for librarians who are 1-2 years into their roles working with Ex Libris products who can speak to how they adapted to their new roles. What advice would you give to 'New Hire You' when you accepted your job offer that would have made your transition much smoother?
We welcome your nominations and self-nominations for potential panelists! Please email svaillancourt@uh.edu with your nominations!
The conference will be hosted via Zoom with real-time captions available. Sessions will be recorded and accompanying slides will be available on the ELSUG 2023 Conference website.
To submit your proposal, include title, description, and desired presentation length in an email to svaillancourt@uh.edu
The DEADLINE for proposal submissions and panelist interest is October 6, 2023. Submittors will hear notification of acceptance on or shortly after October 13, 2023.
If you have questions or requests, please reach out to ELSUG Chair Shawn Vaillancourt at svaillancourt@uh.edu
