Greetings, all, and happy new year! Happy to share another update from our board liaison, @Karen Schneider. Please see below, and reach out to Karen if you have questions!

Key highlights from the December 21, 2021 Executive Board Conference Call:

    • There are exploratory discussions on Division and Round Table membership pricing. Recommendations will be presented in Spring 2022 in hopes to bridge revenue gaps.
    • January 2022 Information Session and ALA Council Meeting agendas were reviewed in draft form. Council agendas will evolve as resolutions and other action items arise. Presenters are encouraged to be precise and attendees are encouraged to read reports in advance for a productive meeting.
    • Transforming ALA Governance (TAG) will take up significant portions of the agenda. Function, culture and structure will be discussed.
    • ALA LibLearnX 2022
      • Board members recommend sharing details on programming and speakers to help drive registration. Strengthen marketing and communication plans.
    • ALA Annual Conference 2022
      • Conference Committee will review health protocols for consideration to minimize liability. Registration opens on February 7, 2022.
    • A survey will be sent to LIS programs involving Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and the work of accreditation. ALISE will administer and a joint team (ALA & ALISE) will be created to set criteria and evaluate programs.
    • Executive Director Hall will work with Board Member Rivera in data gathering to look at implications and other related topics around ALA Connect Commercial Posting.
