New Members Round Table wants to acknowledge the grief that many of our colleagues are experiencing, with the murder of eight people, including six Asian American women, in Atlanta. We stand in solidarity with our Asian American Pacific Islander colleagues, and grieve with you. We would like to take a moment to honor these individuals, and all of those who have experienced violence against their communities, and reflect on the ways that we must stand against racism and hate.
For those who feel able, we encourage you to educate yourself about the pernicious anti-Asian violence in this country (https://www.uproot.space/features/letter-to-asian-diasporic-library-workers and https://anti-asianviolenceresources.carrd.co ). We also encourage you to take action and train to become an active bystander and attend a free bystander intervention training through an organization like Hollaback (https://www.ihollaback.org/bystanderintervention/).
