    Hello NMRT-ers,

I'm writing to update you on a few initiatives that the Executive
Board voted on during this week's electronic board meeting.

    1. We approved the co-sponsorship of the Emerging Leaders Program
through membership promotion and mentoring activities; approved the
allocation of $1,000.00 from the Annual Program budget to a new
Emerging Leaders Membership funding line to provide 100 NMRT
memberships for the incoming class, and directed an NMRT
representative to the Emerging Leaders Task Force, on behalf of the
NMRT Board, to bring a proposal for program co-sponsorship to the Task
    Force for approval.

    2. We approved disbanding the Member Relations committee, adding
"welcoming new members” to the Membership Promotion Diversity and
Recruitment’s responsibilities, and adding "member news article” to
    Footnotes responsibilities.

    3. Courtney Young announced the appointment of Amanda Roberts as NMRT
Fundraising Coordinator for 2009-2011. She will help develop the
position and allow us to move past the identified barriers and
prioritize the tasks associated with the position. Amanda will provide
leadership and vision for the position and collaborate with the NMRT
Board to: revise the draft position description, develop relationships
with appropriate ALA offices, units, and
external vendors, and implement strategies for the elected successor.
Amanda will join the board as a non-voting member at the conclusion
of the Annual Conference in Chicago. Beginning with the 2011-2012
year, the Fundraising Coordinator position will be elected.

As always, please feel free to contact me at lbliss@rohan.sdsu.edu if
you have any questions or concerns.
