The mission of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries; to contribute to the education and training of librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of libraries as an essential library service, and to serve as a channel of communication on library instruction between the ALA divisions, ALA and ACRL committees, state clearinghouses, Project LOEX, other organizations concerned with instruction in the use of libraries, and members of the Association.

    For anyone who is a school librarian or knows of one who wants to make the jump to higher education, please consider attending this upcoming webinar taking place Tuesday, July 30 at 2:00 pm CST.  You do not have to be from Texas to attend, so please share broadly.

    Hosted by the Texas Library Association (TLA), four members of the TLA College and University Libraries Division (CULD) who are former K12 librarians will share how they made the switch from K12 to higher education.

    With the dramatic changes happening in Texas school libraries, K-12 librarians may be considering opportunities in academic libraries for increased job security, advancement options, and renewed passion for library service. At this webinar, four former school librarians will share how they made the move, what to expect during your search, and tips and tricks to landing your first position as an academic librarian and renewing your passion for the profession.
