We are revising our instruction statistics reporting form and have been asked by several librarians to add a field for preparation time. The essence of the discussion so far has been that the amount of preparation time used by a librarian is highly dependent upon the individual librarian and the needs of a particular instruction session. Consequently, the majority of the group will not approve this as a mandatory field, but understand the importance of documenting this effort as time spent on instructional work. How many libraries have a policy of reporting preparation time along with time spent in class?
