I am interested on any recent data collected on the number of librarians per capita of students in colleges and universities in the United States. By "librarians", I am looking for the number of library employees that are 1) in a librarian position that requires an MLS, and 2) interact directly with students via instruction sessions, reference desk shifts, research consultations, and/or student outreach. I'd like to look at both full-time and part-time positions if there are any stats out there that differentiate. I work at a 2-year college and would be most interested in data for these kinds of institutions, but I'm interested in statistics for university librarians as well. I would be especially interested in any correlations made between the number of librarians, the services they provide, and student success, and/or the number of librarians at award-winning colleges, such as the winners or finalists of the Aspen award. Thank you.
