The mission of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries; to contribute to the education and training of librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of libraries as an essential library service, and to serve as a channel of communication on library instruction between the ALA divisions, ALA and ACRL committees, state clearinghouses, Project LOEX, other organizations concerned with instruction in the use of libraries, and members of the Association.

    The LIRT Organization and Planning Committee seeks nominations for three offices:

    • Vice-President/President-Elect
    • Vice-Treasurer/Treasurer-Elect
    • Secretary

    Candidates must be current members of LIRT and have served for at least one year on a LIRT committee. Officers must be able to attend all ALA Midwinter and Annual Conferences for the duration of their commitments. The terms of these offices are:

    • Vice-President/President-Elect (three year commitment) - serves on the Executive Board as Vice-President/President-Elect, President, and Past President.  Serves the third year as Chair of the Organization and Planning Committee.
    • Vice-Treasurer/Treasurer-Elect (three year commitment) - serves a two-year term as part of the Executive Board as Vice-Treasurer/Treasurer-Elect and Treasurer.  Serves a third year as a member of the Organization and Planning Committee.
    • Secretary (two year commitment) serves a one-year term on the Executive Board as Secretary, and servers as LIRT Archivist in the second year.
