The mission of the Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is to provide a forum for discussion of activities, programs, and problems of instruction in the use of libraries; to contribute to the education and training of librarians for library instruction; to promote instruction in the use of libraries as an essential library service, and to serve as a channel of communication on library instruction between the ALA divisions, ALA and ACRL committees, state clearinghouses, Project LOEX, other organizations concerned with instruction in the use of libraries, and members of the Association.

    The 2014 Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) Awards nomination period is now open until January 15, 2014.  


     The Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT) is pleased to announce the creation of two new awards to recognize excellence in information literacy and instruction. 


     The LIRT Librarian Recognition Award will be presented to an individual librarian in appreciation for her/his contributions to the field, while the LIRT Innovation in Instruction Award will be given to a Library that demonstrates innovation in support of information literacy and instruction. You do not need to be an LIRT member to nominate or win one of these awards. Open to all librarians/libraries.


    The awards will be presented at the ALA Annual Conference.  Award winners will receive a $1,000 cash award, a plaque, and a $500 travel stipend to be used to attend the ALA Annual Conference. Awards are sponsored by the Library Instruction Roundtable.


    Recipients will be honored at the 2014 ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV, June 26-July 1, 2014.  Winners receive a $1,000.00 cash award, a plaque, and a $500.00 travel stipend to attend ALA Annual.
