Hi Casey,
My big instructional design advice is to start with what you want learners to be able to DO after a learning experience, and then work back from there. The biggest key to a solid learning experience is keeping it focused. An activity for this could be using Bloom's Revised Taxonomy to practice writing measurable learning objectives.

Subject: What is your advice? - instructional design & training
Hi Everyone,
We are developing the ALA Membership Social for Learn RT. I am putting together something to have at the event's tables reflecting peer advice, tips, and tricks. What are some of your recommended instructional design or training best practices? What kinds of icebreakers, activities, or materials do you love to use? These can be ideas big or small, novice to expert- just some ideas to get conversation flowing and offer up some takeaways to our visitors.
Thanks!
