I would think that any ALA-accredited program is going to be more or less the same. They all have to meet the same standards. But I wonder if iSchools might explore a greater range of careers/applications that just traditional librarianships.
For your second question, I'm always in favor of internships/practicums. Getting graduate students out into the real world and working with real librarians is always a wonderful way to help ensure graduates are more prepared. Real world experience is a great teacher.
