Hi all,
Last week the Task Force on a Digital Federal Depository Library Program issued its draft report for public comment with a deadline of October 14, 2022. The Task Force was appointed to study the feasibility of an all-digital Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) and was charged with determining "whether an all-digital FDLP is necessary, and if so, defining the scope of an all-digital depository program and making recommendations as to how to implement and operate such a program."
Now is the time to make your voice heard! Members of GODORT, ALA, and the FDLP community are encouraged to review and comment on the draft report. Your insight into how the public uses and accesses federal government information and how your libraries manage and provide access to FDLP materials will be invaluable to the Task Force and the GPO as they finalize their report and make recommendations about the future of the FDLP to the GPO Director.
When reading the report and formulating comments, please consider:
- Overall, do you like, dislike, or are neutral on the recommendations?
- Are your library's needs and/or needs of your users reflected in the report?
- What strengths do you see in the recommendations? What needs additional exploration or clarification?
In order to help inform your feedback on this document, the GODORT Legislation Committee will be holding a Q&A session with Shari Laster and Scott Matheson on Friday, October 7th from 1-2 pm EDT. To connect to the session on the 7th, please visit
