Hello colleagues!
In my personal capacity, I have created a Discord server-The U.S. Government Information Community-to connect library and information professionals, emphasizing government information. It is intended to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing, and enables members to discuss trends, best practices, and resources relevant to our work in this vital area, enhancing our collective expertise. Now, more than ever, it is essential for us to come together as a community with the option of real-time communication.
Please note that this server is not endorsed by any entity; it is intended to be run by and for our government information community, encouraging meaningful connections and discussions among fellow members.
You and others (tell your colleagues!) can join via your Discord account by clicking "Add a Server" and entering the invite code JWeHeGkM or by clicking the following link: https://discord.gg/JWeHeGkM. https://discord.gg/yrfBjUXuw5
The server features a variety of channels tailored to our interests, including #preservation-efforts, #gov-info-news, #relevant-webinars, and #scholarship-funding-opportunities for focused discussions. You can also participate in #reference-questions, #outreach-engagement-promotion, #technical-services-and-cataloging, and #collection-development to share insights and seek advice. For those looking for a more casual space, we have #crafters and #pet-pictures where you can unwind and share your hobbies. Channels can and will be added in response to member requests.
I welcome volunteers for moderator roles, as they will be essential for maintaining organization, including moving threads to more appropriate locations. Of course, I also warmly invite anyone who simply wants to be a member!
I recommend setting up your Discord account using a non-work email to ensure your continued access.
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you on the server!
