The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

  • 1.  Depository Library Council Nominations - by Nov. 30

    The American Library Association's Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is soliciting nominations for Depository Library Council (DLC).  This advisory body counsels the GPO Director and the Superintendent of Documents in matters pertaining to innovation and future trends in libraries; government information dissemination and public access; and collaboration and enhancement opportunities in the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP).  

     

    GPO is looking for individuals to be selected on the basis of their expertise and experience to serve a three-year term on the Council. GODORT is looking for nominees prior to GPO's announcement due to the new ALA calendar.

     

     Are you interested in being considered or wish to suggest someone else for nomination? If so, please send the following by November 30 to sarah.erekson@ufl.edu:

     

    • ALA membership number
    • Curriculum vitae (CV) that includes ALA, GODORT, state, local, and/or regional activities
    • A cover letter that includes a brief statement (no more than 200-500 words) of why the candidate would be an effective member of the Depository Library Council.

     

    The GODORT Steering Committee will select up to five names to be forwarded to ALA.
