    Posted 25 days ago

    Greetings all,

I'm reaching out to announce an opportunity to contribute to the government information community by serving as the new Coordinator for the "Help! I'm an Accidental Government Information Librarian" webinar series.

This long-running series, now hosted by GODORT, provides valuable training and resources to information professionals navigating government information, covering topics that affect federal, state, local, and international government information. Featuring expert speakers, panel discussions, and practical strategies to enhance our own skills, sessions are free, recorded, and archived on our YouTube channel for broad accessibility.

    The Coordinator role typically involves:

    • Identifying timely topics and recruiting speakers or panelists, often in collaboration with GODORT Committees.
    • Scheduling and promoting webinars (usually 2-4 per year).
    • Collaborating with GODORT's Virtual Meetings Coordinator and our ALA staff liaison to handle logistics, such as Zoom registration and recordings.
    • Ensuring the series aligns with GODORT's mission to promote education and access to government information.

This volunteer role has an open-ended term, starting as soon as possible, with flexibility based on your availability. No prior coordination experience is required-just a passion for government documents, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to supporting fellow librarians. It's a rewarding way to build your network, gain leadership experience, and make a meaningful impact.

If you're interested, please email me directly at julia@msu.edu.

For more details on the series, visit https://www.ala.org/godort/HelpWebinars or check out past sessions on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@helpimanaccidentalgovernme2397.

Thank you for your continued support of GODORT and our educational initiatives. I look forward to hearing from you!
