The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    Dear GODORT Community,

    We are excited to announce the 2025 recipients of the GODORT Awards and the inaugural GODORT Preservation Grant. These awards recognize outstanding contributions to government information librarianship and reflect the creativity, dedication, and service of individuals and teams across our field.

    Please join us in congratulating this year's awardees:


    James Bennett Childs Award
    For lifetime and significant contributions to the field of government documents librarianship:

    • Katrina Stierholz

    • Jim Noël


    Bernadine Abbott Hoduski Founders Award (Federal Category)
    For significant contributions to government information librarianship benefiting both the institution and the profession:

    • Jenny McBurney and Sara Westdal (University of Minnesota)


    ProQuest/GODORT/ALA Documents to the People Award
    For encouraging the use of government documents in support of library service:

    • Lauren Hall (California State University, Stanislaus)


    GODORT Preservation Grant
    For projects that improve the long-term care and accessibility of government information collections:

    • Middle Tennessee State University
      Distilling, Fermenting, and Brewing Collection Government Document Preservation and Access Project


    These recipients will be recognized at the GODORT Awards Ceremony during the ALA Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Event details will be shared soon, and we hope you will join us in celebrating their achievements.


    We are also in the process of updating the GODORT website to include more detailed information about the awards and this year's recipients. Stay tuned for more!
