As part of the GODORT Virtual Winter Meetings, please join the Legislation Committee on Tuesday, January 13th, at 1pm Central as it welcomes guest presenter Amelia Aldred, Deputy Director of State and Local Advocacy in the ALA Office of Public Policy and Advocacy to learn about how ALA support states and local advocacy, especially regarding the right to read. Amelia will discuss how ALA supports and coordinates with state associations, empowers members of the public to advocate on behalf of libraries, and recent wins. She will also walk through resources available to ALA members for state and local advocacy and volunteer opportunities for government document specialists to combat adverse library legislation.
Amelia Aldred is a passionate library advocate and serves as the Deputy Director of State & Local Advocacy the American Library Association (ALA). In her role at ALA, Amelia assists state and local library advocates in building library-friendly public policy and combating adverse policy. She also staffs the Unite Against Book Bans initiative and the ALA Committee on Library Advocacy.
