Are you an active GODORT member? Do you love to tell people about GODORT? Like attending GODORT events & socializing with other members? Are you interested in providing a new member with a more personalized introduction to GODORT?
If so, please consider volunteering to be a GODORT Buddy during ALA Midwinter in Seattle by filling out this form http://goo.gl/iYaUV ! Volunteers will be paired with a new member or interested librarian to serve as a “buddy” for the Midwinter Conference. Volunteers will tell their “buddy” more about the organization, introduce them to other members, give them the inside scoop on what GODORT activities they should attend or might want to become involved in and answer any questions they have.
Commitment is for ONE conference only! And if you already plan to attend activities such as the GODORT Happy Hour, you don’t even necessarily need to take extra time out of your conference schedule. Information packets for volunteers to give to their “buddies” will be provided by the Membership Committee.
We ask that Volunteers:
- Commit to the program for one conference (ALA Midwinter 2013)
- Arrive in Seattle in time for Friday evening’s GODORT Happy Hour (5:30pm-7:30pm, Location TBD)
- Touch base with assigned buddy before conference via phone or email (if time permits)
- Meet with buddy just prior to/at Happy Hour on Friday evening
- Introduce buddy to other GODORT members at Happy hour
- Give advice/information on GODORT meetings & activities
- If possible, make a commitment to meet at least once more with buddy at the conference, to touch base with them on how the conference has gone and answer any questions. This could be coffee, lunch, at a GODORT meeting, etc.
If you would like to volunteer, please fill out this form http://goo.gl/iYaUV no later than January 7, 2013. Buddy assignments will be emailed on January 11, 2013.
If you have any questions please contact Kris Kasianovitz at krisk11@stanford.edu or 650-723-2851.
Cheers,
Your Friendly GODORT Membership Committee
