While she apparently did not check the "public" box when she posted it, I share it with GODORT members who may be interested in attending.

    Dear Councilor colleagues:

I wanted to touch base about our Midwinter schedule, and particularly the Council/Membership Information Session.

Following up on a recommendation of the Task Force on Council Effectiveness, we have made some major changes in the Council meeting agendas in order to allow Council to focus more on strategic discussions and to make these reports more accessible to the membership.

This means that reports and information briefings that were formerly presented as part of the Council agenda will now be presented at the Information Session on Saturday afternoon from 3:00 to 4:30. These include those of the President, the President-Elect, the Executive Director, the Treasurer, BARC and the Endowment Trustees.

Our Council Self Assessment indicated that there was strong agreement that we need to share a common – and deeper - knowledge base in order to make the best possible decisions. The Saturday afternoon Information Session will now be an important conference activity for us -- your opportunity to hear and discuss these reports and to enagage with the members who attend. Please make this a priority on your conference schedule.

    See you in Seattle!

    Maureen Sullivan

    ALA President
