The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    Folks, 


    Sorry for getting this out so late.  Below is a schedule of meetings in Atlanta with brief descriptions.  I have not yet heard back from ALA about the locations of these meetings, but I know they will be in Atlanta (smile).


    Also, is a list of committees that will be having virtual meetings.  Please note that some of these committees are closed meetings (i.e. Awards and Nominating).

    Meetings Scheduled in Atlanta


    Saturday 8:30-10.  Government Information for Children.  


    Government Information for Children (GIC) - The Government Information for Children Committee fosters an awareness of the value of government information as a lifelong resource for living locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.


    Saturday 10:30-11:30.  Federal Documents Taskforce - “Cataloging and inventorying government publications for preservation” A panel discussion on cataloging and how depository libraries are or will be participating in the National Preservation Plan. 


    Saturday 1:00-:2:30.  Legislation I - Joint meeting with the Committee on Legislation 


    Saturday 3:00-4:00.  International Documents Taskforce - We will have an update and discussion of the United Nations Digital Repository and UN iLibrary and outcomes from the June 2016 ALA Resolution on the Restoration of the United Nations Depository Library System, http://www.ala.org/offices/resolution-restoration-united-nations-depository-library-system Key International Governmental Organizations (IGO) and publishers, e.g. WorldBank, Bernan, Renouf, will provide product updates.  


     




     


    Sunday 8:30-10:00.  Membership - Meeting of GODORT's membership committee. 


    Sunday 10:30-11:30Cataloging- Vendor updates, continue discussion on Cataloging Committee's mission and goals, GODORT Toolboxes project and liaison update. 


    Sunday 10-:30-11:30Legislation II - Discussion of issues relating to government information and legislation. Work on resolutions affecting government information librarians. 


    Sunday 1:00-2:30Research Round Robin - All are welcome to join an informal discussion of existing and envisioned research projects related to government information content and access. We'll talk about documents, data, and media; collections, services, preservation, and much more! 


    Sunday 3:00-4:00.  General membership - Business meeting for GODORT members, for updates and for voting on approval of actions of committees.


     




     


    Monday 8:30-10:00.  Steering Committee - Meeting of the executive officers and committee chairs of GODORT. Open to anyone with interest in GODORT activities. 


    Monday 10:30-11:30.  Executive Committee - Meeting of the executive officers and committee chairs of GODORT. Open to anyone with interest in GODORT activities.
