The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    The American Library Association Government Documents Round Table welcomes you back to the Help! Webinar series with a new look and a new crew. What is the same? Great webinars for you and for free! All are welcome because government information wants to be free. 
     
    Are you a newly appointed Government Documents Librarian? Are you feeling a little overwhelmed in this new role? You are not alone! In September of 2019, Kaitlyn Tanis, the History and Social Sciences Librarian at the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press was appointed as the new Government Documents Librarian after her predecessor announced their retirement. Join Kaitlyn as she reflects on her first year in this new position and discusses tips and tricks that helped her navigate her first year.

    Presenter:

    Kaitlyn Tanis is the History and Social Sciences Librarian and Government Documents Librarian at the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press. Kaitlyn received her BA in History and Anthropology from Susquehanna University in 2015. She has a MA in Public History from New York University and a MLIS from Long Island University. Prior to arriving at UD in 2019, Kaitlyn worked for a small public library in Northern New Jersey as the Adult Programming Coordinator and also was the Ship's Librarian for SUNY Maritime College.
