    Hello,

I'm a brand-new government documents librarian, stepping in as FDLP point person in place of a colleague who took a new job. I have to admit, I know absolutely nothing (and am eagerly registered for the next "Help!" webinar), and I'm already stuck.

I'm working with a faculty member who would like their students to have access to the Foreign Broadcast Information Service's outputs. I've traced the evolution of this resource from the FBIS to the Open Source Center, to the Open Source Enterprise, and I think to World News Connection, which appears to be the same as or included in Eastview, but that's a subscription service - and we don't have it. I want to believe that this information is out there for public consumption, because that's what it was made for, but I'm really stuck on finding it! Can anyone share any wisdom?

    Many thanks for your help,
    Abigail

    Abigail,

FBIS stopped being a depository item many years ago.  World News Connection was at one time included in LexisNexis Academic, then disappeared. The East View product consists of the World News Connection backfile. The CIA ended access to Open Source Center in about 2013. I am not aware of any way to access FBIS current content.

    Hi Abigail,
I don't know much about FBIS anymore, but I wanted to say welcome. You might also try the question on the govdoc-l listserv. Are you on that one? It has people who aren't GODORT members so a broader range of people. The info for it is here: https://govdoc-l.org

Gwen may have answered your question though.

Welcome to the group and see you in a couple of hours at the webinar!
