This year’s ALAPlay is going to be the biggest and best yet, but we need your help to make it happen!

Volunteers are needed to serve as:

Game Shepherds: During the event you’ll help attendees get started on games in general, answer questions, and find games to join.

Game Hosts: During the event you’ll teach and run a specific game.

Presenters: Do you run an awesome library gaming program? Come present your brilliant ideas at ALAPlay!

ALAPlay14 will be Friday, June 27th from 7:30-10 PM. We have great swag, new games in the library, and great events in the works – all we need is you! If you’re interested in running a game, presenting, or serving as a game shepherd please email me at afoulk@saclibrary.org.

I'd be interested in teaching Magic: the Gathering, potentially could teach Smash Up! but I would need to get some more games in myself first.

I could do any of the above. Except teaching Magic: The Gathering...

I'd love to present on starter game collections for under $150 and teach whatever board game needs teaching.

    Hi Joshua,

Running a MTG game would be great! What format were you thinking about? There are a few other mtg players attending so we might be able to pool our resources and create a few playable pauper decks...

I was also thinking of maybe cube?

I would LOVE to see a cube come together. I also enjoy planechase and can bring my planes if people are interested.

I am pretty sure I have enough cards to build a fun 360-card cube. I'd be happy to run one! And yes, definitely bring the planes, Brian!

We are going to have a metric ton of games at the event. Jenny has told me she will be updating our collection list soon. When we have that in place, we can post a doc for people interested in signing up to pick a game or two they are comfortable with for the event.

John, your friend said hi yesterday at Penn State! Anything you want to share is welcome! The format for the sharing isn't a set time but rather that there will tables or displays set for people to share through the whole event as people will come in and out throughout the evening. So people sharing awesome sauce would do so for the night, making it hard to share and teach.

For the presentations it might be cool to encourage people to bring posters they've made for poster presentations? Though I guess that depends on if anyone has made one, haha.

I have put together a Doodlepoll for people to sign-up for games they would like to teach at ALAPlay this year. Head on over to the poll and claim a game. This will help us know which games to bring along with us to the event.

Just the base game. I love the expansions, but the event is geared towards introduction to resources and so I didn't want to complicate things too much.
