  • 1.  YuGiOh Offer to Libraries

    Hi All,

As part of International Games Day Sponsorship last year, Konami would like to figure out ways to reach out and provide YuGiOh to a wider audience of libraries. They think that hosting events in libraries is a great idea for them, and I think it is a great idea of libraries. They have a pretty robust network of volunteers that can be tapped to help host events in libraries, but YuGiOh doesn't know how best to get in contact with individual libraries that would be interested in these kinds of events.

I am thinking that this group could work on creating a registration separated from International Games Day that could have libraries that are interested in these kinds of opportunities to sign up.  The library representative agrees to have their contact information shared with the company and then they can get access to even more gaming resources. I think once we have some structure for this, we will see other companies that would be interested in reaching out. I know the indie RPG company, Starline publishing, offered to provide free PDFs of one of their games to basically any library who wanted, so these kinds of opportunities do come up and it would be great if GameRT was able to head the campaign.

If we are going to do this, I would definitely need someone to take over the non-games day logistics. Since I am heading up our sponsors/donations for IGD, (in addition to a more than full time academic library job...) I just don't have the time/resources I need to be able to manage this area too. I don't know if the group wants to make a new committee to support this initiative or just have a couple of volunteers run things.

I think this is really great and something many libraries can benefit from.  I am currently in library school and working, so my time is limited.  If we could get a couple of us together to work on this, I would love to help.  I just can't take in all by myself as my time is rather limited right now with school and work.  Let me know if others are interested as this would be something great to do.

    Thanks,

    Michelle

Thanks for your offer Michelle, anyone else willing to help out?

YuGiOh got back in touch to see if we had volunteers. I think it would be awesome if we could get this done. I don't think it would be a huge time commitment once the methods got going AND there is a huge group of YuGiOH Judge volunteers that could possibly be tapped for additional help.
