GAMERT (Gaming) Round Table

The mission of the Games and Gaming Round Table is to provide the following:
  • A forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns surrounding games in libraries;
  • Resources to the library community to support the building and maintaining of library game collections;
  • A force for initiating and supporting game programming in libraries;
  • Create an awareness of, and need for, the support of the value of gaming and play in libraries, schools, and related learning communities.
  • Create an awareness of the value of games and gaming in library outreach and community engagement plans.
  • A professional and social forum for networking among librarians and non-librarians interested in games and gaming.

    If you are at ALA Midwinter in Seattle, please attend the GameRT forum on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 pm. There are going to be a couple of great presentations:

    Through the Looking Glass of Assessment: Developing an assessment toolkit to help spread the word about the value of games in libraries - presented by Ron T. Brown

    and

    What Exactly is an “Action-Adventure” Game, Anyway? : Providing Intelligent Access to Video Games - developed and presented by Violet Fox, Jin Ha Lee, Michelle Dillon, Sean Fullerton, Chris Magnifico, Zach Welhouse (University of Washington iSchool), Andrew Perti, and Michael Carpenter (Seattle Interactive Media Museum)

    We will get these posted for others in GameRT who weren't able to attend after the conference.
