The mission of the Games and Gaming Round Table is to provide the following:
  • A forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns surrounding games in libraries;
  • Resources to the library community to support the building and maintaining of library game collections;
  • A force for initiating and supporting game programming in libraries;
  • Create an awareness of, and need for, the support of the value of gaming and play in libraries, schools, and related learning communities.
  • Create an awareness of the value of games and gaming in library outreach and community engagement plans.
  • A professional and social forum for networking among librarians and non-librarians interested in games and gaming.

    Registration for the American Library Association’s International Games Day 2013 is now open at http://bit.ly/igd13reg. IGD is celebrating its sixth year on November 16th, 2013. This year’s event has some great sponsors who are giving out free games to early United States registrants:


    USAopoly is donating 500 copies of Tapple.
    Konami is donating demo decks of Yu-gi-oh.
    Heartland Products is donating 250 copies of Square Shooters and Rodeo Rummy.


    International and United States participants will have access to GameTable Online and are also eligible to participate in two video game tournaments, one for Mario Kart and one for Super Smash Bros., as well as a Global Gossip Game.


    Libraries interested in games and gaming can view the International Games Day blog for more information and can follow our IGD Facebook page to receive gaming tips and participate in discussions about the event.
