GAMERT (Gaming) Round Table

The mission of the Games and Gaming Round Table is to provide the following:
  • A forum for the exchange of ideas and concerns surrounding games in libraries;
  • Resources to the library community to support the building and maintaining of library game collections;
  • A force for initiating and supporting game programming in libraries;
  • Create an awareness of, and need for, the support of the value of gaming and play in libraries, schools, and related learning communities.
  • Create an awareness of the value of games and gaming in library outreach and community engagement plans.
  • A professional and social forum for networking among librarians and non-librarians interested in games and gaming.

    Are you going to ALA this year? Take a break from the hustle and bustle of sessions and give some of your time to GameRT! There are three opportunities for volunteering. Want to be a game shepherd? We got that. Want to rub elbows with other gamer librarians? You can do that too. We got it all, but we sure could use a little bit of you.

    Now that the Official Schedule for ALA Annual is out, take a look at the sessions you want to attend, and consider spending some of your free time volunteering for GameRT!

    So I don't know if it was just me, but those links go through facebook before getting to the form. If give a big warning about the danger and stuff. Attached an image.

     

    If I wasn't a part of this group, I would think it was a weird lie and just not follow through. Can we get updated links?

    Hey Teresa, thanks so much for bringing this to my attention! I had copied over the text from a Facebook post, and Facebook had altered the hyperlinks. The hyperlinked text is the right web address, but the direct had been changed to go through Facebook. I will edit the above post to update those links right now. Thanks again!

    Hi Donald

    The booth is where we could use people:

     

    Saturday: 9-11:30, 3-5

    Sunday: 9-10, 12-3, 4-5

    Monday, 9-10

    You do not have to take the full slots, but those are times we have open if you can fill in on some that would be awesome.

    I'm crashing at my in-laws place, a bit over an hour away, but I'll try to get there as early as possible to help out.
