Bio
I was born in New York City and moved to NJ when I began high school. Aside from living 2 years in Colorado (Colorado Springs) when my husband was drafted during the Vietnam War, I have stayed a NJ resident. I entered the profession in 1962 while beginning my Masters. After taking time out to have 2 children, I returned to school lbirary work where I remained until I retired as a high school library media specailsit in July 1995. In 1979, Ruth Toor and I wrote The Elemenatary School Libarian's Allmanac. It was the first book of its kind (not a library tool or about children's literature) and sold over 30,000 copies. Nothing we have done since has come close!! The two of us write and edit The School Librarian's Workshop (since 1980) a 24-page bi-monthly newsletter that goes by subcription to about 4,500 K-12 library media specailsits in the U.S., Canada, and 25 other countries. Since 1979 we have written 12 books for SLMSs. Most recently, we wrote New on the Job: A School Library Media Specialists for ALA Editions and are in the middle of a new book for them. I do presentations and workshops in NJ and around the country on topics raging from how to get a job, classroom management, time management, and building leadership among other topics. My husband of nearly 47 years and I share our home with a diabetic cat who pretty much runs things. I have 4 grandsons, (2 from each of my children). I have just recently written a young adult fantasy novel (and am hunting for an agent) and have started a second one for adults.
