The mission of the Government Documents Round Table (GODORT) is to (1) To provide a forum for discussion of problems, concerns, and for exchange of ideas by librarians working with government documents; (2) to provide a force for initiating and supporting programs to increase availability, use, and bibliographic control of documents; (3) to increase communication between documents librarians and other librarians; (4) to contribute to the extension and improvement of education and training of documents librarians.

    GODORT Occasional Papers 3 and 4 now available

    The GODORT Occasional Papers editorial board is pleased to announce the publication of GODORT Occasional Papers 3 and 4.  

    Occasional Paper #3, Librarian’s Guide on How to Use the American Community Survey Multiyear Estimates is by Steve Beleu, Regional Depository Librarian, Oklahoma Department of Libraries and Director, Oklahoma State Data Center Coordinating Agency. The guide offers users the basic information needed to get the most out of the American Community Survey (ACS) data available on the Census Bureau website.

    Occasional Paper #4, 1957 Crisis at Central High: An Annotated Bibliography of Government Publications is by Karen Russ, Government Documents Librarian at the Ottenheimer Library of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Sarah Ziegenbein, Documents Librarian at the Main Library of the Central Arkansas Library System in Little Rock. This bibliography identifies government publications and primary sources detailing events in Little Rock, Arkansas during the integration of Central High School.

    Like the first two Occasional papers, these papers illustrate the diversity of government information topics which the series seeks to address.     The GODORT Occasional Papers editorial board encourages those writing on government information topics to submit drafts or proposals.  Papers should not exceed 7,500 words in length. Authors are encouraged to submit drafts by August 1, 2010 to assure timely consideration.  Submission guidelines are available on the wiki.
